SMcG JEANS SET
I have been interested in these jeans ever since they debuted on his site. What I found interesting is that they didn't appear to be skin tight on the figures that were modeling them. Hey, I like the look of skin tight jeans too, it's just that it would be nice if at least one manufacturer made some that the figures could actually move around in. These sets on Sith Lord's site looked like they had a more relaxed fit.
My usual practice with clothing such as jeans, especially if I haven't read any reviews of them prior to use, is to rinse them. I rinsed these jeans, and very little dye seemed to come out in the water. After they dried, I tried to fit them on a TBLeague S10D figure. It was very apparent that was going to be an extremely tight fit. I didn't try them on my TBL S17D, a less curvy figure.
The winner in this instance is my S25B, a result I'm really happy with. I'm trying to get a variety of clothing that looks good on this body.
It's a pretty simple set: jeans and a nicely styled shirt that looks a bit different than the usual T-shirt. Both items are very well made: good stitching, crisp details, and overall very nice designs. The shirt can be worn tucked in or left out. It's long enough that it doesn't pull out of the pants. Tucked in looks a bit weird, maybe, but for purposes of this little review, tucked in shows the pants a bit better.
Here's the result:
I like the belt loops, functional pockets, and the detail of the little pocket on her right (what are those things for anyway?).
One detail that I really like about these jeans is not just the look of the rear pockets, but they're positioned where they're supposed to be! So few get this right, and put the pockets too far down the leg. This is what jeans are supposed to look like from the back.
At this point let me say that another thing I like about these jeans is the use of low profile Velcro for the fly closure. What surprises me in some of these photos is how obtrusive it appears. This is an over sight on my part. The fly closes much better than you see in these photos. One of the trade-offs with this type of Velcro is it can work out of place under use. Maybe a belt would help keep it secured. Given a choice, I would opt for this low profile Velcro- it looks so much better than the thick, bulky stuff!
It kind of bothered me that I hadn't taken care in these photos to make sure the Velcro stayed in place. I really don't want to misrepresent these jeans- they're a great product. I took a few more photos as I was up-loading these images, just to satisfy myself and to better show how these jeans look:
As you can see, the closure is fine, and doesn't spoil the look with bulk.
In conclusion, I'm really happy with this set. One might say it's on the pricey side at $29.99 US, but for me the set really works. Not only do they look good, they don't restrict her movements or poses. The sets are also available with a yellow, purple or black top.
