ONESIXTH SCALE CAMERAS - FROM 2011 UPDATED 5/12/20
Photography plays a huge part in my enjoyment of this hobby. It just seemed a natural extension that I would have at least one character that is a photographer (I actually have three- an additional one that doesn't appear here).
Apparently I wasn't alone. A short-lived theme about TV camera men, and photo journalists occurred in 2010 or 2011. One company (in cooperation with Blue Box International- Bbi) made a TV camera man that included a nice video camera and a white helmet with "PRESS" emblazoned on it. I bought the figure (he has unique hands that are posed to grip a camera) and the video camera. Toy Master made two photo journalists. The first one featured a really cool camera bag.
The second one is the one on the right in these photos. The stock head sculpt was pretty ugly so I swapped it for one by Loading Toys. "Nikon" is deliberately misspelled on the camera as well as on his vest. Apparently Toy Master was not licensed to use the correct spelling.
The man on the left is my kitbashed photographer, Brad. He's not a photo journalist; he's a glamor photographer. His subject is women, to put it bluntly, and he loves to do everything from fashion to erotica, but mostly the latter. You can see him on one of his earlier assignments in the swimsuit vignette.
His character is based on a play-line M&C Toys figure. This line was carried by large retailers as well as Big Lots. Brad is one of their later figures and shows how good the play-line sculpts became. Not only did I choose this figure for the sculpt, but his right hand pose seemed just right for holding a camera and pushing the shutter button. The unique articulation of his arms also makes for easy photo shooting poses.
I also have an actual journalist character, but she'll have her own introduction.
Now for the cameras, the actual subject here:
To add to Garth's commentary, ZY Toys released the TV video camera as a stand-alone accessory, and TTL/Toys City released the camera from their PMC figure as a separate accessory as well. These may be hard to find now, but they're worth the hunt.
